Do you think gender exists in a spiritual sense?

I personally believe what gender is not relevant to the spiritual self in any way, shape or form and is only a physical and societal thing. As in, without a physical being and without the influence of society would gender exist or do you think its a false creation? I do realize people may have different or no spiritual beliefs but if you relate i'd appreciate opinions.
